Broken Brazilian Agate Slabs

Broken Brazilian Agate Slabs

This is something different to The Rock Shed’s crushed rock section;  broken Brazilian Agate slabs. These broken agate slabs will be approximately 2″ to 6″ or more.  Each bag will have a mix of color enhanced blue, pink, purple, teal and natural Brazilian Agate slab pieces.  Please note that some of the pieces did not take dye all the way through therefore the final polished stone may have a more natural Brazilian Agate appearance.  Many stones will end up with a good mix of color enhanced and natural look.  These slabs are great for tumbling or cutting down for pendants and other uses.

It is possible that small amounts of dye may come off when initially handling the material when wet. The final product will not have this problem.

MOHS hardness scale of  6.5 – 7

Agates mostly occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or waters containing Silica in solution which is possibly derived from the decomposition of Silicates in the lava.  The Siliceous matter is deposited in regular layers resulting in the banded or striped formation.  It is very unlikely that you would ever find an exact duplicate of any type of Agate, Fairburn or other.
