Description
Copal is a type of resin produced by plant or tree secretions which is identified with the forms of aromatic tree resins used by the cultures of pre-Columbian tribes as a ceremonially burned incense. It is very similar to Amber but Amber is an older resin. Although not considered gem quality, Copal is appreciated for its beauty and is used in some ornamental objects. It is sometimes referred to as a semi-fossilized resin or sub-fossil Amber.
