Here is something different for the Fossil collector. This is a nice, fossilized end of Coprolite, also known as “Dino Dung”. It measures 6″ x 5 3/4″ x 1 1/2″ and has been polished on the front face. This specimen has a nice blend of color and a good design that resembles Petrified Wood and has been cut and polished right here in our very own Lapidary Department. Take it home with you today.

Coprolite (or coprolith) is fossilized feces. They are classified as trace fossils as opposed to body fossils, as they give evidence of the animal’s behavior (in this case, diet) rather than morphology. Like other fossils, coprolites have much of their original composition replaced by mineral deposits such as silicates and calcium carbonates.
