GAL 711: “Star” Rose Quartz Sphere.
Locality: Madagascar.
Selection: Polished specimen.
Appearance: It has excellent color, clarity, inclusions and hint of a “star” when rotated in bright light. The first two 3-D “star” photos are an example taken of another sphere. It’s quite difficult to capture the wonder of this 3-D effect on the sphere but the picture gives you the idea.

Rose Quartz is a member of the Quartz family that exhibits a pale Pink to Rose Red hue. The color is usually due to the trace amounts of Titanium, Iron or Manganese in the mass material. Some Rose Quartz contains microscopic Rutile needles which produce an asterism in transmitted light. An all-time favorite at the Rock Shop.
