PN800 Prairie Agate
$16.00
This is a very cool pendant made from a 35mm x 44mm Prairie Agate from Western South Dakota. It measures 2 3/8″ from the top of the bail to the bottom of the stone and the bail size is 1/4″. This piece was hand crafted and created right here at The Rock Shed. (see the note below if you are interested in how they are made). The pendant is a one-of-a-kind work of art!
To make these pendants we select a nice quality piece of rough rock.
Step 1 – we cut a slab off of the rough material using a lapidary saw and cut it to a desirable shape for jewelry.
Step 2 – On hard materials such as agate and jasper we use our lapidary grinder to hand grind the shape that we want the pendant to be. This step also involves sanding it to a smooth shape. Note: Softer materials we do all the steps from sanding through to polish by hand on this machine.
Step 3 – After sanding the harder materials to a smooth shape we run them in a rock tumbler to finish the stone using 3 different stages 220 grit, 500 grit and polish.
Step 4 – After the stone is polished we drill the stone to accept a finding, add a chain and it is ready to wear and enjoy.
