Orthoceras was a marine cephalopod, this particular species was straight shelled and they thrived some 400+ million years ago in the Paleozoic era.
This is a very nice fossil specimen of Orthoceras fossils from Morocco on a medium sized matrix plaque. The detailed Orthoceras fossils were carefully exposed from the rock surrounding them. The all natural and unpolished plaque measures 9 3/8″ x over 6 3/4″ x almost 2″ and weighs nearly 4 1/4 lbs. The fossils on this fossil plaque are as described below and are from Morocco.
