EGG602 Yooperlite

EGG602 Yooperlite

$45.00

Here’s a cool item, a lovely Yooperlite egg. This egg measures 2 1/2″ x 1 3/4″ and has good polish.  It’s a pretty plain looking egg in color until under a LW/UV light shows a pretty bright yellow resembling volcanic lava from within. It also has lots of sparkle. A great addition to any collection!

Description

Yooperlites were recently discovered on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula by Eric Rintamaki. They are syenite rocks that contain sodalite, a fluorescent mineral that has never before been identified in Michigan. The sodalite is what gives the Yooperlites their glow under a UV lamp.  Yooperlite is derived from the nick name Yoopers which is what the folks in that area call themselves.
