Description
These Concretions have baffled scientists for 100’s of years. The most recent “theory” is that these are “Seismite”. Material created during an earthquake. In this instance, an earthquake caused by meteoric event. It is thought that during this large meteoric event, a large earthquake was created which squeezed the water out of wet spots in the sand instantaneously leaving behind the minerals from the dissolved water, effectively cementing the sand together. Found in only a couple of locations around the world, 95% of these spikes were found with the spikes pointing west towards the fault line. They ranged in sizes from 2” to 13”. Today nearly all the sand spikes have been collected, destroyed by collection methods or put into Museums around the world.
