Description
Vivianite is a hydrated iron phosphate mineral found in a number of geological environments. Small amounts of manganese, magnesium and calcium may substitute for iron in the structure. Colorless, very pale green, becoming dark blue, dark greenish blue, indigo-blue, then black with oxidation.
Glassy bright green Ludlamite crystals on matrix from a relatively new locality in northwestern Brazil. The crystals are bright, translucent to transparent, and reach 1cm in size. Gorgeous specimen of exceptional quality for the species.
