Here is something different from the gift shop at the Rock Shed. This is a very nice, above average quality Agate from Brazil. The face has been highly polished. It measures 9″ x 3 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ with a natural, rough texture on the outside. This is a unique, very interesting, one-of-a-kind creation from our very own Lapidary Department to keep for your own or give as a gift.

Agates mostly occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or waters containing Silica in solution which is possibly derived from the decomposition of Silicates in the lava. The Siliceous matter is deposited in regular layers resulting in the banded or striped formation. It is very unlikely that you would ever find an exact duplicate of any type of Agate, Brazilian or other.
