Here’s a new item, a gorgeous piece of Prehnite. A great rock for cutting and any lapidary project.
This is a select piece of Prehnite that Shawn has picked out. He says he sees something special in these. Whether it be that it needs thumbed, ground on and tumbled, cut and tumbled or cut and polished , he sees something. Whether you will see what he sees, or whether you can bring to fruition what he sees would be up to you. Of course, with all rocks, there are still risks. There could be fracture lines in the wrong place, the color may change or…Shawn could just be wrong. Regardless, these are much higher quality than our regular tumble material.
It measures 8 3/4″ x 4 3/8 x 4 1/4 and weighs nearly 6 1/2 pounds.

Prehnite is a Phyllosilicate mixture of Calcium and Aluminum. Although it is not a Zeolite, it is often associated with them and with Datolite and Calcite, in veins and cavities of Basaltic rocks, sometimes in Granites, Syenites or Gneisses. The color varies from light green to grey to white to yellow or a mix of colors. It is translucent and was named after it’s discoverer, Colonel Hendrik von Prehn.
