SEP110 Septarian End Cut


This is a gorgeous polished end cut from a Septarian Nodule from Utah.  It measures 9 3/8″ x nearly 8 3/8″ x almost 3″ thick and weighs almost 9 lbs. This awesome large specimen has lots of Brown Aragonite with contrasting Yellow Gold Calcite in a very nice design and a very beautiful crystal cavity.  There is Barite in the crystal cavity as well. Very, very cool.   Cut and Polished in the USA!!

Septarians are commonly composed of a carbonate mineral such as Calcite, a microcrystalline form of Silica as in Flint or Jasper, or an Iron Oxide such as Hematite.  These specimens are also known as a concretion which is a type of sedimentary rock.   Septarians were formed millions of years ago by sediment forming around a fossil to create a mud ball transforming the fossil into Calcite and Aragonite.
