Tiger-eye, Tiger Iron is a member of the quartz family, a cryptocrystalline variety. It is one of the chatoyant varieties of gemstones. Due to the fibrous structure of the gemstone, as light reflects within the thin parallel fibrous bands it exhibits a changeable silky luster or chatoyancy. It occurs naturally in colors of gold and blue.
